With over 87,629 views on flickr and up to 100 new hits per day this has surely got to be one of my most successful Wedding photographs …ever! Taken in Gallesse, Italy it is part of a Wedding I had the pleasure of photographing for Eve and Chris Costello.
Eve contacted me via e mail from Dublin, after seeing some of my work online, to enquire if he could shoot their wedding in Italy. All arrangements were made before hand and I flew to Italy in late 2008. After a short flight and a very long train journey, finally arrived in Gallesse late on the night before the wedding, bringing along a treacherous thunder storm with me! The groom collected me from the train station and took me to the venue, a delightful little place called Giulia Di Gallese On the morning of the wedding it was raining again, but thankfully the weather cleared after about an hour. I started shooting at 10am in the morning, first the bride and ladies getting their hair done in the local village, then proceeded to shoot the groom, best man, and ushers inside the mediaeval walls of the old town. The wedding ceremony and reception finally ended at around 1am – a long, hard day but thoroughly enjoyable. I started the long journey back home the next morning. All high resolution photographs on personalised DVD’s were sent to Dublin within 10 days.
